Butler Chain Bass fishing has been holding pretty steady. My main areas of fishing with clients has been on Lake Butler and Lake Down. Steel Shad and Redeye Shad have been producing some good numbers out here mostly in mid lake areas where we have found the grasses offshore. If you’re out there early top water action has been steady before the heat hit, but we have had some mid day schooling action out on Lake Down. Slight breeze is always great, as it seems to keep the bass fishing feeding all day long. Strike King Shim E Sticks and trick worms have been great at producing bass out here.

Capt Rob Warfield covered for me on another trip as I was already booked, and took his trip out on Lakes Chase and Tibet. Working mainly offshore grasses in 8 to 10 foot of water working trick worms, brush hogs and spinner baits they had a great time boating a bunch of bass. The bass had been relating to the outside edges of the grass beds and would follow the baits out before smacking them. Working slow and being patient was the key, other than the couple very aggressive ones that smacked spinner baits, once you located those bass, it was just a matter of picking apart the grass beds and drop offs.

Fall is just around the corner, and that will mean some great bass fishing action with cooler air temperatures and cooler waters. Bass will be up feeding and we expect yet another awesome season.

Florida Bass Fishing Guides-Orlando Bass Fishing Guides


The middle of September has seen some awesome bass fishing action. We have been working mainly the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes to include world famous Lake Toho, as well as East Lake Toho. The weather seems to have settled some as far as the heat, but I believe that has been mainly due to some breezy days on the water to help cut the heat back.

I will say this, the heat has not seemed to mess with the bite too much at all. Many will say once you hit 10am the bite is shut down and it becomes a one here one there kind of thing, But don’t tell Jimmie and Frankie that. These two guys had what can be called nothing but an awesome time on the water.

We had set our sites on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, which holds some of the best bass fishing around right now, and the waters did not let them down. Jimmie started the day out in our first spot, hitting a smaller, maybe 2 pound bass in the first 5 minutes, using wild shiners. This was the first ever bass that Jimmie had caught, which I was not aware of at the time. We made one move to an area that has been holding quality bass for some time now, and it was game on. Jimmie landed a very solid 4 pound bass, that fought awesome, no jumping with this gal, she just kept diving to bottom and charging the motor, but Jimmie worked her like a champ and got her in the boat, talk about big smiles for this bass he landed, we also managed to get her on film, so be sure to check out the Bass Fishing Videos on my web site.

Frankie, The host for Reel Fishing, had started out the day working artificial lures, but when he saw Jimmie was catching them left and right, decided to switch up to the wild shiners and started catching a few himself. These two guys were a total riot to have out on the water. Non stop catching and the jokes were just flying around.

The guys wanted me to fish along with them, so I joined them buy tossing around a wacky rigged Strike King Shim E Stick and caught a nice 4 pounder and showed Frankie how to use the Strike King Red Eye Shad, 3 casts into showing him, they grabbed the camera and started filming as what turned out to be a nice 5 pounder slammed the baits and started to dance around.

These bass were being caught all the way to 11am, in the heat of the day in shallow waters. The guys had a great time on the water and ended up catching 22 bass and learned a lot about bass fishing in Florida. Looking forward to getting them back out there very soon for some more great action.

Orlando Bass Fishing


Orlando bass fishing has been doing very good the past 2 weeks. Most of the Orlando bass fishing trips have been done on Butler Chain of Lakes. This chain typically does pretty well in the Florida heat simply because of the deeper waters it has. Every one of the 12 lakes out here will have at least one drop off going to at least 20 feet deep, which is a very good area for bass to stack up at times as the water heats up.

Our main targets on this chain as of late have been areas on Lake Down and the main lake, Lake Butler itself. Both of these lakes seem to have the cleanest water on the chain, and both have been seeing some very good schooling activity as of late. Live wild shiners have done good out here, but the heavy hitter has been the artificial baits. Flukes and senko type baits have been very good out here, as well as the trout and fire tiger pattern steel shads.

Lake Down has been very productive out in the mid lake area where there is some good topped out vegetation. Flukes worked thru it has been a very good way to catching some quality bass. Lake Butler has been the same way, fishing the deeper waters and the drop offs has been the ticket to catching the bass. Water temperatures have slowly been coming down, rain mixed with a few days of some good overcast has helped drop water temperatures some and seems to have made the bass much more active.

Forecast for September bass fishing is looking good. Previous years have been productive and we fully expect this year to be no different. With the amount of schooling action we have been seeing, we see no reason why the action will slow down any time soon.
